partyAre you excited about celebrating the birth of your best friend’s new baby girl? You have been planning the party for months. The location is set, the guests have been invited, the food is divine, but what should you get as a gift? Even the best friend of the mother-to-be struggles with deciding what the perfect baby shower gift would be, especially if you have never been to a shower before. Here are a few tips to set you in the right direction and help relieve some of that gift giving stress

Personalized Gifts
Let’s first look at some personalized gifts that you can give the mother to be. Sometimes the parents know if they are having a baby girl or boy and have already named their precious bundle of joy. If this is the case, you can purchase personalized gifts with the baby’s name on them. You can get an engraved music box, an embroidered towel or even some wooden letters that spell out the child's name. Any item that celebrates the name of the newborn baby is a great keepsake and will stay with the child for years to come.

Practical Gifts

Practical gifts are items that the baby will need. It is probably the easiest way to go when it comes to buying a shower present. Parents have to spend a lot of money on their kids. Any item that you give them that they may need is always appreciated. For instance, you always need diapers and wipes. It is probably the one thing that every mother runs out of at one time. It may be best to purchase larger sizes in case other people decide to buy diapers as well. Clothing is another great choice. Babies can never have enough clothing. One piece suits, hat, socks, shirts, and other articles of clothing are a great gift because they will always come in handy. There is a whole list of practical gifts you can choose to give as a shower gift. Some of these items include bottles, a bottle warmer, pacifiers, and bibs. You can even buy a diaper bag and fill it with things the baby may need on the road. Alternatively, purchase a baby bath and fill it with baby soap, lotions, a couple wash cloths, and a really soft towel.

Pampering Gifts
Being a new parent is a lot of work. You can always give the mother and father to be something so that they can pamper themselves. There are many ways to give the new parents a chance to relax and unwind. Make a bubble bath basket for the new mom. Fill the basket with scented candles, bubbly soap, and a plush bath robe. Offer to clean the house or mow the lawn. Give them a night on the town. There are so many ways that you can help them pamper themselves again. If you aren’t the crafty type and you really don’t want to spend your day cleaning someone else’s house, you can always give a gift certificate. You can get the mother-to-be a gift certificate to get her hair done or her nails done. She would love a massage or a spa day. Or, if you really want to splash out and pamper her, buy a goose down comforter to keep her and baby warm during late night feeds!

These ideas should get you started in the right direction. It is not always easy to pick out the perfect shower gift, but if in doubt be practical. You can never go wrong with a practical gift. Keep these ideas in mind and you will have no problem finding the perfect baby shower gift.
